I liked how the last mission resolved itself if you stayed independent. With the Vanguard, did the thing I though gave me the most freedom in the long run - told the Empress to get herself to a nunnery, never allied with the supercomputer, and kept the Emperor frozen. Fortunately, the other factions have better writing.Īs for the decision, you are given enough hints to know that the Empress can't be trusted, that the Emperor is not strong enough to keep things together, and that Core is a bit overbearing. This was a missed opportunity to flesh out the lore and history of the game world. It's also because I've seen negative reviews linked to how it's hard to relate to the game and it's lack of lore/history. I guess I'm being harsh here, but it's because it wouldn't have taken much effort on the developer's behalf to include information my character is supposed to know in the in game searchable data. I guess that might make the painfully boring story last longer as you have to research more and build 3 structures. I bet most people burn the world down cause their bored and don't care, or maybe not.
If you as a developer don't care enough to do that why should I care about the people, mission, lore, future effects.
If your going to FORCE me to make a choice at LEAST give me information to make a decision so I might care about one way over the other. and found a big fat ZERO, nothing, nada, zilch. How does that help me or make me care? Could't they have a least put information about the Emperor and Empress in the in game searchable encyclopedia? I tried to look up Emperor, Tholian, Empress etc. The in game dialog indicates my character is familiar with the history of Emperor and Empress. This is supposed to be exposing me to the lore and background of the world. So if I don't give a $h1# here does that mean no reason to give a $h1# in later missions? The choices I make here are supposed to effect future campaign missions. Some emperor and empress (or their representatives) both want me to oppose the other.
